In order not to hurt your shoulders and neck: life hacks that help relax muscles at work and not only

Take a break from work for a second and think about how your shoulders feel? Do they hurt? Whining? Numb You are not alone! After all, these are problems that you may not even notice until you start thinking about it. Why it happens?

Why does my back hurt?

You just think about how much time each of us spends with bent shoulders every day while using the phone, computer or driving a car. These long and frequent periods when the shoulders are in an unnatural position for them can cause soreness. The good news is that you can break this habit once and for all. There are a few simple exercises you can do every day to relax your shoulders. The great thing about these exercises is that they are so simple: you can do them at home or at work, sitting or standing, and you don’t need any special equipment.

Exercise Angel

It helps to change the position of your shoulders and range of motion:

  1. Stand with your back to the wall and extend your arms at your sides. You can also sit on the floor, if that is more convenient for you.
  2. Raise your arms above your head so that the back of your arms touch the wall. Bend your elbows at an angle of 90 degrees to keep your arms straight.
  3. Swipe your arms up and over your head, then lower them back down. You can raise them as high or low as you like - it is important to keep them on the wall.
  4. Repeat 10 times.

Do this and see if you feel more relaxed afterwards.

Useful Lifehacks

There are other exercises that you can try, for example, squeeze the shoulder blades together and move your shoulders back and down. Keep them in place in one position for 10 seconds. Do 10 repetitions 3-4 times a day, and it really helps to correct your posture and reduce stoop.

Also, stop crossing your legs, as this pose can cause tension in your shoulders. If you are working at a computer, make sure that the monitor is at eye level and the keyboard is in a position comfortable for hands and wrists. The same goes for your phone: to avoid neck problems, raise it to eye level.

It also helps to just get up and move from time to time. Staying in the same position, performing one task for a long period, is very difficult, especially for your shoulders. If you get up and take a break from time to time, you will give your muscles a chance to relax.

We hope that these simple exercises and tips will take the strain off your shoulders.
