Enjoy our credulity: how sellers weigh us on electronic scales

It would seem that the times of switch weights with weights are in the past. Electronic scales, on which not only the exact weight is displayed, but also the amount, cause more confidence. But are they as reliable as it might seem at first glance? Of course not. Unscrupulous sellers invented a lot of tricks in order to deceive the buyer and get rich at his expense.

Plain bag and scotch tape

Sometimes the seller, at first glance, in order to maintain the cleanliness of the surface of the electronic balance, puts a plastic bag on them. The seller attaches the package with tape to the case on the side with which the scales are turned to it. When you put your purchase on the scales, the seller, as if by chance, pushes the goods a little to the side. With this movement, he provides the package with additional tension. The pressure on the scales increases and the weight that you see on the electronic display is, of course, much higher than the real weight of your purchase. Of course, you can follow the hands of the seller. But it’s even better to ask him to remove the bag from the scales.

At such a trick, not only market traders, but also shops receive large profits. Even if they slightly weigh you on the purchase of an expensive gourmet product, a pretty decent amount will be accumulated for such buyers per day.

Cheating with a small load

There is another simple way of illegal extortion by sellers from unsuspecting buyers of funds. On the side platform of some types of electronic scales, lovers of easy money drill a small hole and attach a load to it on a colorless thread. When you go shopping, the load is on the table on the side of the scale, and the scale is reset. But as soon as the goods are placed on the platform, the cargo imperceptibly lowers and, accordingly, its mass is automatically added to the mass of your purchase.

Calculating such a trick is quite difficult. Even if you suspect something, the seller will easily break the thread, and you can not prove anything. Better immediately weigh your purchase on a checkweigher.

You are forced to pay for tare

If the goods are weighed on trays, some sellers go to such a trick. For their part, under the cup of the scales they substitute a board or piece of cardboard so that the tare weight is set on the scales. And at the time of weighing the seller imperceptibly removes this cardboard, and the weight of the tray is actually added to the weight of the goods. That's how a decent amount runs over the day.

And also, when you go to the store, always pay attention to the scales. Often there is already set a certain amount of grams. This is designed so that the buyer pays attention to the numbers already at the time of weighing. So in such cases, ask the balance to reset.
