Stone kitchen mixer

Features and benefits

Plumbing appliances in the kitchen must meet all modern requirements, first of all, to be durable and easy to use. Most recently, all kitchen sink mixers were made of metal with chrome plating. With the advent of the latest technology, devices for continuous contact with water are made from natural and artificial stone, ceramics and granite.

The main advantages of a stone mixer, can be called a long service life, a beautiful matte surface, in harmony with the rest of the kitchen set, and a variety of tone solutions. Not everyone can afford to buy a set of natural stone, but this is not necessary. Artificial compounds that are sold on the Russian market at reasonable prices come to the rescue.

The mixer for kitchen under a stone is suitable for installation and registration of your interior in all respects:

  • has a reliable design;
  • it looks aesthetically pleasing and in no way inferior to the granite original in appearance;
  • does not require special care - stains from water on it are easily removed with a rag;
  • does not rust.
  • It is easy to choose the color of the mixer that is necessary for the kitchen - the pigment is determined to the nearest percentage when painting the model.

The so-called artificial stone includes polymer concrete, in which up to 80% of marble or granite chips, and alkyd resins act as a binder in the amount of 20%. Manufacturers of this material spend considerable funds and efforts to achieve the optimal composition. Mixing is performed under high pressure to avoid voids in the resulting composite.

Types of construction

By type of spout

Spout is called a structural element through which water flows into the sink. The height of the spout is defined as the distance from the base to the front of the mixer. Faucets are divided into several types, they are distinguished by the method of pouring water: low, high and retractable (with flexible hose up to 140 cm, which is removed with a spring).

The length of the spout is measured horizontally between the farthest points in the structure. It can be from 18 to 22 cm.

When choosing a type, the shape and depth of the shell are taken into account.Spouts are divided by type into L-shaped, arc and diagonal. Diagonal have an average height and length, L-shaped can have a height of 11 cm. The maximum height and length of the water spout will provide an arched mixer during operation.

For kitchen sinks, faucets with a spout of no lower than average are often chosen; a model with a high tubular type of water pouring out is particularly well suited, in which, moreover, it is convenient to change the gaskets. If the construction is cast and does not slide out, the master will have to completely disassemble the product in order to change the gasket discs.

The strong pressure of the water provided by the mixer with a high spout type will allow to wash any container, even if it is a very large frying pan or a massive volumetric pan. In this case, the depth of the sink should correspond in size and be maximum. It is convenient to wash the dishes, but you can’t avoid splashing water, you have to wipe the countertop and the floor often, but the comfort when cooking in the kitchen is worth it.

If the spout is medium, the product is strengthened in the washing of medium filling and standard sizes. Low models are rarely used in kitchens, such mixers practically do not spray water. They are installed if the main part of the dish passes through the washer.

Modern faucets with a stationary watering can are able to unfold at an angle from 120 to 360 degrees, which simplifies the task of choosing a place for washing and locating appliances on it. A number of models look unusual and interesting due to the combination of a part of the coating of artificial stone with brass and chrome elements.

There are designs and with a variable configuration of the spout, the price for which is quite high. However, the versatility of this model has made it a cult, and the combination of beautiful appearance with multifunctionality can be the way to the elitism of the style of the kitchen interior.

By type of water flow control

According to this principle, stone mixers with a brass body are divided into two-valve and single-lever. According to experts, a two-valve stone mixer with axle boxes and locking mechanics is reliable and easy to repair. This model is inconvenient because the water temperature required for washing is achieved by scrolling both valves, and this takes time.

If the hostess needs to quickly use water, it is much easier for her to control the special lever on the mixer with one hand.

Practicality and ease of use have made the single-lever model more popular. Single lever faucets are, in turn, of two types - with a cartridge and a ball valve. The cartridge allows the crank handle to move simultaneously upwards and to both sides. Thus, you immediately set the desired water temperature, and determine its pressure. A model that malfunctions, requires a complete replacement of the cartridge, minor repairs to put it in order will not work.

Additional features include, for example, the ability to connect a filter for drinking water. The cleaning process can be adjusted using a second special lever device.

Colors and models

The addition of dyes to the composition of an artificial stone occurs with pigments of different color, and the products are obtained externally spectacular and diverse. Accurate mixing allows achieving uniform coloring of the whole composition with the necessary shade from the chosen color palette.

Mixers made of stone perfectly keep color, do not fade, do not crack and are resistant to high temperatures, as well as temperature extremes. The color palette is quite stable and in contact with food colors.Brown, black, blue and white artificial stone are among the most sought-after color, well suited to any kitchen set.

There are no very bright tones among those used in the coloring of artificial stone, but pastel, green and neutral are often present - colors such as white-gray, pinkish and beige are harmoniously combined with the rest of the interior of a tender and light kitchen.

Styles

Designers conditionally determine the style of stone mixers, offering to choose one or another type to create the overall style of your kitchen. There are the following types of these products:

  1. Classical. Usually it is an L-shaped two-valve mixer, kept in the traditional form. Most often the choice falls on white and brown models, with chrome-plated details for retro.
  2. Modern This style includes arc-shaped mixers, well combined with round and oval sinks. The rounded lines of the interior and pastel colors are characteristic of modern, it will be shaded by a red, blue or green mixer.
  3. High tech. A super modern mixer, diagonal or with a variable drain, will complement the sink with a rectangular or unusual geometric shape.The game of colors and textures, the contrast of black, white or gray will enhance the impression of a spectacular headset in the kitchen.

How to install

For these types of faucets, there are two types of installation: inside the surface of the sink and directly on the countertop. The first way is that if the manufacturer left corks on the sink, they would be knocked out with a hammer and chisel, striking the center precisely. Smooth out the edges with a rasp, and a crane is mounted into the hole. Otherwise, the place is chosen independently and cut a hole with a crown cutter.

To mount the countertop need exceptional circumstances, it must be made of moisture-resistant material. This method is not considered to be sufficiently reliable - the effect of water over time affects any surface, gradually destroying it.

Reviews

Many buyers of mixers made of artificial stone, unanimously note their strength and durability. A plus for all categories of customers was the flexible price for various types of sinks with such mixers, ranging from 8 to 10-12 thousand rubles. This increases the desire to purchase such models for their kitchen from the majority of responding apartment owners.

On such mixers there are no handprints left while cooking in the kitchen, mold does not settle and rust does not appear. Buyers recommend in order to avoid the appearance of scratches on the faucet to purchase mixers in which the metal is combined with other compounds.
