Depth of Kitchen Cabinets

The kitchen is the favorite place of every woman, because in this room she feels like a real hostess. A special place should be well and conveniently arranged so that all dishes are better than usual. Since kitchen sets are exclusively individual furniture, many prefer to equip it for their own parameters and taste preferences.

When designing a kitchen interior, every corner should be thought out, and special attention should be paid to storage ideas, so that each pan and each plate have their place where they will comfortably lie and wait in the wings to help the hostess with culinary affairs. The depth of kitchen cabinets is not the last place in the comfortable functioning of kitchen cabinets, which are divided into two types: lower and suspended. The height of these cabinets does not have so many problems, since basically they should be standard: for the bottom drawers, 85 centimeters, and for wall 70-90 centimeters. The depth may be different, depending on the functions of the boxes themselves, as well as the possible depth of the table top, which defines the work surface.

Upper and lower kitchen modules, in addition to the set height, have additional requirements.

Bottom row of cabinets

In addition to the standard height of 85 centimeters, the base of the lower cabinets should not exceed a height of 10 centimeters. The case itself is at least 46 centimeters, where 45 cm is occupied by the cabinet, and one is allocated for free space to the rear wall of the case. Models with a depth of at least 50 cm are usually popular. Modern furniture factories assume worktops with a depth of 60, 90 and 120 centimeters, and the thickness on which the quality, durability and price of the surface itself are 28, 38 and 40 millimeters. The tabletop should have a mandatory reserve of centimeters both in front of 3-5 centimeters, and in the rear 5-10 in order to provide sufficient space for wires from the equipment.

The estimated width of one cabinet door varies from 30 cm to 45 cm. And the distance between the shelves inside the cabinets is from 20 cm to 40 cm, depending on the preferences of the owners themselves.

All of the above indicators are highly dependent on each other, because their proper distribution will determine how beautiful the kitchen will look like. Therefore, before making the final choice, it is proposed to look at the design of kitchen cabinets with different heights and depths. In principle, many adjust the height of the lower row with the help of special legs, it is important in this case not to bend the stick so that the kitchen set looks attractive. As for the depth of the lower row cabinets, it completely depends on the depth of the table top.

The most common is a sixty-centimeter tabletop. This is the minimum that it is proposed to install in the kitchen in order to have sufficient surface for work and not to embarrass yourself during cooking. The depth of the case in this case will be 46 centimeters. Of course, there are exceptions when the kitchen is quite small and it needs a shallow surface and headsets as a whole to fit everything in a small area. But in this case you have to choose dishwashers, gas stoves and non-standard, smaller ovens. With a wide choice in modern stores it will not be difficult.

The second most popular tabletop is 90 centimeters deep, where the depth of the cabinet itself will be 76 centimeters. But this size is only suitable for large and spacious kitchens, where you can properly turn around and limit it to yourself. In the deep drawers will fit much more kitchen utensils, which is incredibly convenient. But if your kitchen is not very large, then you should not get such a large countertop, since it can not only take up extra space in the room, but also make it more cumbersome.

A worktop with a depth of 120 centimeters is not very common, as it is used either in large restaurants or in private houses to create a so-called "island" in the middle of the kitchen, which can be approached from any direction. Such "islands" have lockers around the entire circumference and are a good additional place to store kitchen utensils. Often on these countertops there is not only a work surface, but also a hob, or even a sink.

Whatever the depth of the bottom row of cabinets you choose, be sure to focus on the area of your kitchen so as not to overload it. Of course, the temptation is to make the boxes wider and deeper in order to have more storage space, but still, practicality is not always worth putting much higher appearance, as the kitchen is not only a place for cooking and dinner, but also a cozy corner for quiet evenings with loved ones or noisy gatherings with friends.

Top row

The standard height for the upper cabinets, as already mentioned above, is 79-90 centimeters high. With an ordinary tabletop 60 centimeters, the depth of the upper cabinets is 30 cm, in case the tabletop is wider, then the depth is half the depth of the tabletop itself. The area of the apron, that is, the distance between the table top and the upper cabinets, is at least 45 centimeters, although it can reach up to 60 cm, depending on the wishes of the kitchen owners. The distance between the hood and the stove is 70-75 centimeters in the case of an electric surface and 75-80 cm if you have a gas stove.

The main parameter when arranging cabinets is the distance between the upper and lower modules, which is at least 45 centimeters. This is necessary to be able to arrange all household appliances. You should not be afraid of hitting your head against the upper modules, since they are already lower. The distance between them can be slightly increased, but not reduced in order to be able to cook properly on the working surface.

Equipment

When designing the interior of the kitchen, which will determine not only the appearance of the interior, the location of the cabinets, but also their depth, the equipment plays an important role. It can significantly change the proposed project to a completely different one, since each item has its own installation requirements and dimensions. Home appliances often affect the appearance of kitchen design and they should often be oriented in order to preserve the integrity and organicity of the entire interior.

Fridge. In the case of a built-in refrigerator in furniture, there will be no difficulties, since it will look like an ordinary cupboard from the outside. As for standard refrigerators, then there should be thought out many details. The depth of the tabletop and household appliances should be the same, so that it does not stand out from the general picture. An additional narrow cabinet can be placed on top of the refrigerator, which will adjust it to the overall picture.

Stove and oven. In this case, everything must be organically. Again, if the equipment is built in, then there will be no problems with the appearance, but if it is free-standing, then it should be selected to fit the dimensions of the bottom row of cabinets and the depth of the table top.Nowadays, ovens, which are built into eye-level furniture, are gaining more and more popularity. That is, you do not need to bend over to get the cake baked inside. It is very convenient and more practical than the oven standing below, however, like any built-in furniture that always looks organic with the kitchen.
