HVL moisture resistant: pros and cons

 HVL moisture resistant: pros and cons

Moisture resistant GVL is a finishing material having a rectangular shape. It is widely used in construction, indispensable in the finishing of surfaces of various types. Consider the advantages and disadvantages of varieties and the order of work.

Composition

The main components of gypsum fiber board are gypsum, cellulose and additives necessary to impart additional properties. Paper filler gives the product strength.

In terms of parameters and external data, it is similar to a standard sheet of drywall. But it surpasses its technical characteristics.

Cellulose fibers are particularly durable. Therefore, they are widely used in the construction industry. The threads are evenly fluffed, thanks to a special treatment, they are evenly distributed throughout the material, reinforcing it. Chemical additives give gypsum-fiber sheets additional properties (resistance to fire and protection from moisture).

Using

This type of finishing material is used everywhere:

  • It is used in residential and industrial buildings.
  • It is a substitute for the classic cement-sand screed.
  • Used in rooms with high humidity. This is the best choice, as the gypsum fiber sheet is protected from its impact. To increase the properties of water repellency, you need to use a special impregnation (water repellent). It forms a film on the surface that prevents moisture from soaking.
  • The material can stand up to shock, it is durable. They sheathe the walls and ceilings in sports halls, rooms for games. With a strong blow sheet is not deformed.
  • Other objects include loft, basement and attic. It requires the installation of a good ventilation system.
  • Used such material to create a floor covering. Paul is laid down with him quickly, simply and efficiently. Wall decoration in garages and unheated rooms cannot do without it.
  • In addition, the material is applicable in boiler rooms, panel rooms, elevator shafts. In case of a flame, the sheet does not break, it resists the fire.
  • With it, constructing interior partitions.Since the product is able to withstand a large load, a doorway can be made in the false wall.

GVLV Advantages

Among the positive properties of moisture-resistant gypsum-fiber sheets, there are several:

  • They have high strength characteristics and have a high degree of viscosity. Screws are screwed into the material with ease and nails are hammered. It is amenable to processing tools intended for wood.
  • GVLV has a low thermal conductivity. It is successfully used for thermal insulation and noise insulation of dwellings.
  • He successfully confronts the fire. They sheathe structures of wood and communication systems. During a fire, the sheet remains on the metal crate and does not fall from it.
  • The material is characterized by low weight, which facilitates installation and its delivery to the object.
  • Edges of sheets are processed with the help of consumable tools that every builder has. Waste after processing is minimal.
  • Sheet strength is suitable for erecting structural elements of any complexity (arches, floor, ceiling).
  • The material is not subject to temperature changes, so they sheathe the surface in rooms without heating.
  • This raw material is hygroscopic. It is able to absorb moisture vapor from the air, and then excrete them into the environment.
  • The material has a high bearing capacity: a self-tapping screw, twisted into a sheet, is capable of carrying a concentrated load of up to 30 kg.
  • Gypsum sheets are flexible.
  • Sheets are frost-resistant, do not emit harmful substances into the atmosphere, are environmentally friendly.
  • The building material does not creak, it can be used with the “warm floor” system. It is suitable for laying on a wooden base.

The use of moisture resistant plasterboard allows you to remove from the process of finishing the stage associated with plastering.

Due to this, there is a reduction in labor costs of workers, reducing the time of finishing. This is economically advantageous, since the framework of the structure is facilitated. Finishing GVL creates ideal conditions for human habitation.

We note the disadvantages of this raw material:

  • The mass of one sheet is about 18kg.
  • Its price is higher compared to classic drywall.
  • It is necessary to strictly follow the technology of laying, otherwise there is a risk of breaking the material.

Stages laying the floor with GVL

Dry screed without the use of "wet" processes - an ideal basis for the floor.This is one of the main advantages of moisture-proof GVL. It needs to be considered in detail. Bulk floors or screeds with a large thickness of cement mortar are associated with dirty work.

We have to use additional labor. Before proceeding to the finish, the floor must be completely dry. And if the floor consists of two layers, the waiting time becomes even greater. There is an overrun of additional construction materials (waterproofing).

Precast floor can be of several types:

  • insulation + a layer of expanded clay a few cm (base);
  • insulation + expanded clay layer 3cm (rough);
  • plates from expanded polystyrene + expanded clay (team screed).

Draft floor includes the device of thermal insulation and a flat surface. The base floor serves to impart thermal insulation properties. Screed team is used when there are large drops on the floor surface, increased thermal insulation properties are required. The dry screed device allows you to quickly start laying the finishing layer. Gypsum fiber can be glued with mastic or adhesives. It does not affect chemical properties.

If you want to make the room warming, then the size of the material should be approximately 1200x600x20mm.

The order of work, we note on the basis of step by step instructions:

  1. It is necessary to prepare the basis. If the sheets will be located on a wooden base, you need to check the individual elements of the structure in order to further eliminate the squeak. For concrete it is enough dust removal and garbage collection.
  2. On all sides of the room is placed a special sealing tape. Its purpose is to absorb noise and sound waves, and also to bind the material in case of temperature changes.
  3. It is necessary to put a vapor barrier layer. To do this, use a polyethylene film with membranes.
  4. With the help of metal profiles, it is necessary to delimit the surface of the floor so that uniform cells are obtained to fall asleep with expanded clay. They will then be attached moisture-proof sheets.
  5. It is necessary to fill the logs with expanded clay. The material is leveled using a rake or building level. If required, pipes are laid at this stage or the floor heating elements are installed.

First, stack GVL small format. Work begins with a corner of the room.The material is fixed with screws, the caps of which are sunk into the surface. If sheet cutting is required, use a jigsaw or hacksaw. The next layer is laid in staggered order with a shift of 30-50cm.

If the products are glued, the maximum seam width should not exceed a few mm. If glue is released when pressed, it is carefully removed.

The second level of sheets GVL must be placed perpendicular to the first. The initial layer is treated with an adhesive composition or mastic. There is a possibility of using a ready-made two-layer material manufactured under production conditions. It is laid in the same way as laminate.

It is possible to use the third layer, it is stacked in a pair with insulation. At the end of the main work you need to putty the seams and heads of screws. It is necessary to prime the resulting surface so that the finishing layer lays perfectly. As a coating, you can use carpet, porcelain, floorboard.

Advantages of the GVL team:

  • installation is done at the beginning of the repair;
  • installed is extremely simple;
  • availability;
  • aligns the base;
  • ecologicaly clean;
  • can be placed at any time of the year;
  • he is not afraid of point loads;
  • used without restrictions.

To make the right choice of moisture resistant GVL, you need to study the products of specific manufacturers. Knauf is authoritative in this area. Gypsum fiber sheets produced in Russia. They fully comply with the quality standards adopted at the head production of Knauf. Each product is marked and contains basic data. Moisture-resistant gypsum fiber sheets have a wide range of advantages, which allows them to be used in the decoration of different rooms. It is profitable to use it in construction.
